My neighbor has the most beautiful garden I have ever seen. She grows vegetables, fruits, and flowers. I have commented on her garden many times. She thanks me politely and attributes its beauty to her green thumb. One evening, while my husband and I were relaxing on the back deck, we noticed her acting very strangely. She was on her knees in the garden, bending over with her face practically buried in the soil. I asked my husband if he thought she was alright, but soon she lifted her head, stood up, and walked into the house. She brought some carrots and cucumbers over to the house the next day. I told her that we were sitting on the deck and got a bit worried the night before. She explained what she was doing, and I think it gave away the secret as to why her garden flourishes the way it does. She uses a borescope in the garden. She said she wants to know exactly what’s going on under the soil, and she uses the instrument to look at the roots of her plants. If she notices anything out of the ordinary, she attempts to remedy the problem before it gets out of hand. She said she has saved several plants from destruction by using the instrument.
